Anything with a ⚠ deserves your attention, and comes with exactly what to do about it.
In Edit Class, Runs until sets a class's last day: the end of a quarter or semester, or a date you pick. A week before, the bell reminds you to send grades to PowerSchool. The day after, the class is archived: off every tab and reminder, still there under Roster › Archived, and one tap to restore. Nothing is deleted.
Insights' Full profile now opens the same profile as the Roster, with fitness, skills, notes and export. Fitness shows running tests and every event, done or not. A student who changes sections keeps their results from the old class (matched by student number). On a Mac or landscape iPad, expand a profile to fill the screen.
On iPhone and iPad: one row per class, a setup sheet with date and repeats, assessments that end when you say, and a simpler rubric editor with drag to reorder.
Start a new test or rubric from a ready-made one (Health-Related Fitness, Speed & Agility, Athletic Combine and more) or from blank. Tests and rubrics can carry a short description.
Untick events in a test's setup to run just some of them today. Results for the others stay saved, and next time it starts with every event again.
On a Mac or landscape iPad, click a cell to change that student's day: attendance, each score and the note. Test setup (date, repeats, events) now works on the Mac too.
Open tests show real progress, like "Plank Hold, 12 of 30", and View opens the test. Needs attention waits until a class starts. Day at a glance counts Excused.
Settings › Appearance › Names in lists: First Last or Last, First, in every list.
The same class picker everywhere, results colored the same on iPhone as on the Mac, Testing under Fitness, and Skills scale in Settings › Assessment.
With Start ratings at max on, marking a student Present filled in full points, and switching them to Excused kept those points, so they counted. Marking Excused first left the day out. Now Excused clears the day's points, just like Absent, and leftover points on an excused day never count.
WHAT TO DO: Open Settings › Scoring › Points on absent or excused days, tap Find, then Clear. If you already sent grades to PowerSchool for a student marked this way, export that assignment again.
A student's profile and their PDF report now leave excused days out of the attendance percentage, as Insights always has, so a student with excused days reads higher than before. Profile ratings also follow Settings › Scoring › Points display.
WHAT TO DO: Nothing. The numbers now match Insights.
Green is still a new PR. A result within 90% of their PR now shows gold instead of red, so a big PR or a tired in-season day doesn't leave an athlete staring at red. For timed events, 90% means 90% of their best speed. Change the percentage, or turn gold off, in Settings › Fitness Testing.
On iPhone and iPad, a test is now a list of its events. Tap one to change it, drag to reorder, and start new ones from quick picks like the Mile, PACER or a Flying 10. Feet & inches is a Measured in choice, and the last level can be left blank to mean "everyone else".
A test no longer ends by itself when everyone's recorded. STRIDE tells you they're all in and shows End test, so late results still have a home. Tests now read Scheduled, Running and Completed, and a repeating test keeps repeating after you end it.
On iPhone and upright iPad, each class on the Fitness tab is a single row: what it's running (or "2 tests running"), a NOW tag on the class in the gym, and when it was last tested. Tap it to open its tests, each with Edit and Record.
Class, Test, Date and Repeats each show their value; tap one to change it. A new test starts on the class in the gym right now, and on today.
Sheets slide up and can be pulled down to close, pages slide in, and on iPhone you can swipe back from the left edge. Reduce Motion turns it all off.
On iPhone and iPad, the STRIDE pulse draws itself when the app starts fresh. Tap to skip it.
On iPhone, and on iPad held upright, every class is a card: the test it's running with Record and Edit, + Assign when nothing is running, and its recent tests as dates you can tap to open.
New test, Edit and a new Setup button inside a test all open the same sheet: the class, the test and its events, the date, and how often it repeats. A running test's date and repeat can now be changed (the date until results are in).
Tap + Add an event in the setup sheet. If that test had already finished, it reopens so you can record the new event.
If a class's testing ended up split across two tests (say "Fall Fitness Testing" and "fall fitness"), Fitness › Tests offers to combine them. Every result ends up under one test, one entry per student, and you see exactly what will move before anything changes.
STRIDE warns you when a new test's name matches one you already have, or when you assign a test a class already has open or has just run, and offers to open that one instead.
For a jump measured in inches or feet, choose Type results as: Feet & inches when you edit the test, then enter 6 and 4 in two boxes instead of working out 76.
When an event was added to a test after some students already had results (Sit-and-Reach added to a test that started with the Mile, say), those students' new results were saved but didn't appear on their profile or in the Record Book. They now appear.
WHAT TO DO: Nothing, they show up on their own. If you also made a second test to work around it, use Combine in Fitness › Tests to bring the two back together.
When you create or edit a test, any event can show an extra measurement beside the result: speed in mph or pace per mile for a timed run (a Flying 10 in 1.27 s over 10 yards reads 16.1 mph), feet and inches for a jump, or reps per minute for a timed rep test. It shows everywhere results do, and on past results too.
In a test with both boys and girls, a Whole class · Boys · Girls switch narrows the list, the progress count, the trend and the iPad grid to one group.
Each event shows today's average and best result right above the list, with the extra measurement in large type — "14.8 mph".
When your school calendar ends, Home offers to set up the next year: new dates and terms, fresh rosters if you want them (everyone's history is kept), and last year's open tests closed.
The number on the bell now counts only what needs doing — classes to log or finish, a term ending. Students worth a look are listed under Keep an eye on, one line per class.
On iPhone, the test you're in the middle of sits at the top of the Fitness tab, with a New test button beside it.
Pick a class (or All classes) and a date range from two menus, and the trend charts zoom in so a real change is easy to see.
Links at the top go straight to Ratings, Skills, Fitness or Notes, and long date ranges show the rating trend as weekly averages.
Each student shows their sex, age and skill level, and anyone missing what the Presidential test needs is flagged. Removing a student now lives in Edit Student.
Open the class and tick Does not meet today in the top corner. Nobody is marked absent, the day isn't counted anywhere, and its reminder stops. Any marks already entered are cleared — STRIDE asks first. Undo puts the class back.
A student's profile shows how many days they were absent right beside their attendance, and so does the progress report.
Grey text is brighter, so it holds up outside; full names show on the logging screen; and on iPhone the top bar shows which tab you're on.
On a landscape iPad or the Mac, pick Custom dates… to grade any stretch you like, and see or add a student's note for any day right from the grid — a dot marks the days that have one.
A link at the bottom of Settings opens an email to us with your app version filled in.
Turn an iPad sideways for a sixth tab: every student and every day in one grid — tap a cell and a score or P / T / A / E to fill it — plus a Testing view of who's been tested on what, and progress reports for a whole class in one PDF.
In the Gradebook, anything below full marks is tinted by how far short it is — pale amber for a point or two, through amber and orange, to red under 70%.
The Gradebook saves a PowerTeacher Pro score-import file for any column, or copies it to paste into another gradebook.
Tests in progress, class progress, a watch list and trends, arranged how you like — and a test opens inside it as a grid, red for a result 5% worse than usual, green for a personal best.
Held sideways, Home becomes a board of widgets you add, remove and rearrange.
Your numbers across every class up top, then one tap to what's in progress, your classes, trends, the record book and test setup.
Set a test to repeat weekly and the next round opens on its own — no starting a new test every Monday.
While you enter a score you see the student's previous result and whether today is up or down.
Type 7 1 2 and it reads 7:12 — straight into the class list, no scroll wheels. Tap a time and type to replace it.
Each card shows the period and class first, and "Find a student" tells you which test a student is in and their result so far.
Finishing a test plays confetti again — or pick the ring in Settings › Appearance.
A class list saved as a PDF now reads properly and works without internet, columns are recognised by what's in them, and importing into an existing class fills in missing details instead of adding duplicates.
Settings › Data & Backup can now combine a backup from another device with what's already here, instead of replacing everything, and shows what will change before anything does.
A student's High / Medium / Low sits beside their name; tap it to change it.
Instead of opening a form for one student at a time, you pick an event and walk down the roster entering it for everyone — or flip to By Student if you'd rather do one student's whole battery at once.
It now opens on the tests you have in progress across every class, each showing the event you're in the middle of and a Resume button that drops you straight back where you left off — and on a landscape iPad your class list sits permanently to the left, so a test is always one tap away.
A student who sat out can be marked as such, so they're no longer indistinguishable from a student you simply haven't got to yet.
Once the last student has been recorded on every event, the round finishes on its own with a short confirmation, instead of sitting open until you remember to end it.
Events measured in minutes and seconds now use a scroll picker instead of a text box, so a mile time goes in without fighting the keyboard.
Adding or editing a student in your roster now offers an optional skill level — High, Medium or Low — and the Team Builder has a "Balance by skill level" toggle that spreads those evenly across teams instead of drawing purely at random.
Tapping the fifth pill fills to five and tapping the pill at the top of the fill steps back down one — tapping no longer clears a rating to blank, which also means the "start at max" grading style can finally tap in a real 0.
The at-a-glance numbers on a student now shade from your accent color toward amber and red as the score drops, instead of every number looking the same.
On an early-release or altered day, the end-of-day and weekly-grades nudges now shift with the actual last bell instead of firing at the usual time, hours after everyone has left.
Saving a test with every field blank still created a record, and every "has this student been tested?" check only asked whether a record existed rather than whether it held a score. So a student whose score you typed in and then deleted kept reading as Recorded and kept counting toward the round's total. Blank records are now removed instead of stored, and the count asks for an actual value.
WHAT TO DO: Nothing to fix by hand — but a round you remember as finished may now read a student or two short, which is the honest number. Re-opening and saving an affected student clears the old empty record for good.
On iPad it lays out for the bigger screen instead of stretching the phone — a left sidebar for navigation, and side-by-side views across Roster, Home, Insights, Fitness and Assessment — and it now turns sideways, which is where those side-by-side screens have the room to appear.
When no class is open, Home becomes a command center: the class happening now with a live progress bar, a day-at-a-glance of present, tardy and absent totals, how many classes you've logged, a needs-attention list, and the weather — all at once.
On a wide iPad screen the page no longer scrolls at all: your roster sits in one panel that scrolls on its own — switchable between Week at a Glance and the student table — while the class averages, Category Trends and Needs Attention stay pinned beside it.
Open a class on iPad and your list of tests or assessments sits on the left while the student roster for whichever one you tap fills the right, so you can score a round without losing your place.
STRIDE now supports iPad Split View and Slide Over, so you can keep it open beside your gradebook, a roster, or Safari — and it reshapes itself as you drag the divider.
The rating bars were only ten pixels tall, so a finger landing slightly off scrolled the page instead of setting a score — they're now thicker with a far larger touch area, and dragging across them works exactly as it did.
A small note icon now appears beside a student's name in Week at a Glance when you've left them a note, notes are included in the PDF report, and the student profile has a Notes dropdown listing every note in the range you're viewing.
A student's profile now shows which period they're in and when it meets.
A new Settings toggle, off by default, makes an excused day count as full credit instead of being left out of the total.
All off until you turn them on: a weekly grades reminder at the day and time you pick, a heads-up when a testing round has been left open with students still unscored, and a follow-up when a class is still unlogged a couple of days later.
The home-screen widget now uses whatever accent color you've chosen in the app instead of always showing the default lime.
If a student is marked present or tardy and you leave one of your categories unrated, STRIDE now reads that as a real 0 rather than skipping it. This settles a genuine disagreement inside the app: the points total already counted that blank as a zero while averages quietly ignored it, so the same student could read "0 out of 2" in one place and "not rated" in another. They agree everywhere now. Students who are absent, excused, or not marked at all are still left out of averages entirely.
WHAT TO DO: Make sure you rate every category for students who were there — a category you meant to come back to later will now count as a zero. This applies to past records too, so some averages will read lower than you remember. Nothing you actually entered has been changed.
Two separate problems, both fixed. If you grade by deducting from the max, a category you dropped to 0 looked like an empty bar, and tapping it again could quietly clear it to blank — and a blank wasn't counted. Separately, zeros were being left out of the Category Trends averages at the top of Insights and out of the "ratings down" warnings, so those numbers read higher than they should have and a student who kept scoring zero never got flagged.
WHAT TO DO: Nothing going forward. Some averages will read slightly lower, and you may now see warnings for students you'd have expected to be flagged earlier. One honest note: scores that were already wiped to blank in the past stay blank, because there's no way to tell an old wiped 0 from one that was never entered.
Add STRIDE to your home screen for a live look at your current class — a progress bar that moves on its own, or a countdown to the next one. It knows your Friday and assembly schedules, and its buttons jump you straight into Attendance, Week at a Glance, or your Toolkit.
Under Settings then Notifications (all off until you turn them on): a nudge when a class ends with students still unlogged, one end-of-day reminder, and a heads-up when week grades are due. They follow your altered schedules, and a class you've already logged never buzzes you.
Importing from your gradebook now opens a review screen before anything is added — every student it found with a checkbox, obvious junk filtered out, and anything questionable flagged with a plain reason and left off until you say so. PowerSchool CSV files work properly now, and names with commas survive.
Settings then Calendar then Schedules. A new schedule starts as a copy of your regular times — you only change what's different. Repeat one every Friday or apply it to a single date, and a button on the Today screen handles the assembly announced at 7 a.m.
Removed students keep all their attendance and scores and can be restored in one tap — handy while rosters settle. A student who transfers out and comes back gets reconnected to their old records instead of starting over.
Week at a Glance has an export button — one tap gives you the week as a spreadsheet for gradebook entry. Settings then Scoring lets you show points instead of averages if you prefer.
If you ever gave a student a rating of 0, the app was quietly ignoring it instead of counting it. That's fixed — so a few averages may look slightly lower than before. Nothing you entered has changed; only the math on top of it got more honest.
WHAT TO DO: Nothing. The numbers correct themselves. If an average looks lower than you remember, this is why.
Daily attendance, performance ratings, Presidential Fitness Test with official percentile standards, custom test batteries, skills rubrics, per-student comments, Insights and Week at a Glance, PDF and CSV export, Demo Mode, Face ID lock, and backup & restore.
